PHOENIX, ARIZONA. APRIL 2, 2008-The Arizona State House Commerce Committee voted today 8-to-0 to give a "do-pass" recommendation to Senate Bill 1450, the bill that could bring Arizona a major tourist destination - Decades Music Theme Park.
SB1450 could get a floor vote in the House as soon as the week after next. The bill would create a "regional attraction district," giving the Decades team what they need to secure the financing to build the park.
Decades Music Theme Park will be located near the intersection of I-10 and I-8. That puts Decades within an hour's drive of downtown Phoenix and Tucson as well as just a few hours' drive from millions of out-of- state tourists. The park will feature districts that reflect the different Decades of Rock'n'Roll - the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's to start with.
An Elliot D. Pollack & Associates study estimates Decades' economic impact at $270 million for the state of Arizona over ten years.
