Eloy Chamber of Commerce Goes to "The Wall" for Decades Music Theme Park:  Small Businesses Cheer the Music of Better Economic Conditions

ELOY, ARIZONA. APRIL 2, 2008-It's another brick in the wall of support for Decades Music Theme Park, but it's a big brick. The Eloy Chamber of Commerce is backing Decades.

Belinda Akes, the Executive Director of the Eloy Chamber, believes that Decades Music Theme Park could improve the bottom lines of small businesses and the incomes of young families in the city.

In a letter to the Arizona Legislature, Akes writes that the city is proud of what they have, but "..we are still behind when it comes to providing good incomes for these young families. The average household income in Eloy earns less than the average household in the state of Arizona."

Akes goes on to say that the city would welcome Decades and that the possibility of a theme park in their community "..already has nearby landowners thinking about commercial rather than residential development..this would benefit the city more than just rooftops."

Akes finishes her letter by asking the Legislature to pass Senate Bill 1450, the bill that would help create Decades Music Theme Park. She says, "..Decades Theme Park is just the economic tool we need."

Decades will feature districts representing each decade of rock music - the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s to start with - with interactive thrill rides, live music and other attractions where park goers can step back in time to the sights and sounds of each era.

A recent study by Elliot D. Pollack & Associates puts Decades' ten-year economic impact at approximately $270 million for the state of Arizona.
