ELOY, ARIZONA. FEBRUARY 25, 2008-Just days after the State Senate Commerce Committee recommended Senate Bill 1450, the team putting together Decades Music Theme Park has found themselves with even more folks singing their praises.
KLPX and KFMA radio in Tucson, the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame and the Arizona Songwriters Association have all written letters to the Arizona State Legislature voicing their desire to see Decades become a reality.
"..we believe that a music-themed amusement park would bring more focus to our wonderful music and entertainment culture.." wrote Terri Sussman, the President of the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame inductees include Steven Spielberg, Alice Cooper, Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Nicks.
Steve Groesbeck, the general manager of Tucson rock radio stations KLPX and KFMA, wrote after meeting with the Decades team that he was encouraged "..that Tucson won't be forgotten in the process. Decades is something that Arizona is ready for.."
The president of the Arizona Songwriters Association, Jon Iger, told state legislators in his letter that Decades "..helps put Arizona on the big-time musical map..Decades Music Theme Park will be great for tourism and for helping bring awareness to what's going on with music in Arizona.."
Currently in front of the State Senate, Senate Bill 1450 would create a "regional attraction district" and facilitate the creation of Decades, a music-themed park with districts that represent each decade of rock music - the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s in its first phase - with interactive thrill rides, live music and other attractions where audience members can step back in time to the sights and sounds of each era.
