ELOY, ARIZONA. MARCH 5, 2008-The Pinal County Board of Supervisors recognizes what Decades Music Theme Park could bring to their county: economic diversity, tourism, and jobs.
In a resolution passed last month, the Board of Supervisors states that, ”...Decades Music Theme Park has the potential to enhance tourism in the South Central portion of Pinal County and create jobs and opportunities that do not otherwise exist.”
The resolution goes on to say that the Board, “…supports the City of Eloy’s leadership in their efforts to locate the Decades Music Theme Park,” and encourages the parties to continue any additional feasibility studies that may be needed.
Decades is a planned music-themed park with districts that represent each decade of rock music – the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s in its first phase – with interactive thrill rides, live music and other attractions where audience members can step back in time to the sights and sounds of each era.
Senate Bill 1450 is currently in front of the Senate after receiving a “do-pass” recommendation from the Commerce and Economic Development Committee last week. The bill would create a “regional attraction district” and give the developers a much-need financial tool that would help make Decades a reality.
In recent weeks support for Decades has come from KLPX and KFMA radio in Tucson, the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame and the Arizona Songwriters Association. Additionally, guitar giant Fender has agreed to take a partnership in the project.
