Decades Music Theme Park Rocks The House:  Passes Key Floor Vote; Heads Back to Senate, Then Governor's Desk

ELOY, ARIZONA. APRIL 30, 2008-Decades Music Theme Park is, in the words of the Doobie Brothers, "Minute by Minute" moving closer to becoming Arizona's next big tourist destination.

The Arizona House of Representatives, in a 39-17 vote, passed Senate Bill 1450, the bill that will make Decades Music Theme Park a financial possibility. As part of that vote, a majority of Republicans and a majority of Democrats in the House voted to pass the bill.

The Arizona State Senate votes next to approve changes made in the House before a likely trip to the Governor's office. That vote is expected within the next two weeks.

If SB1450 receives the nod in the Senate - as it did last month - it will head to Governor Janet Napolitano's desk for a signature. In a recent press conference, the Governor said she wouldn't comment on the bill, but did say that she "likes Rock'n'Roll."

According to a study by Elliot Pollack & Associates, Decades Music Theme Park will create an economic output of nearly $447.1 million annually. And the entire region is expected to benefit.

The Pollack study estimates that $267.6 million in gross state tax revenue will be collected over ten years from construction and operations at Decades.

The City of Eloy would see gross tax proceeds approximating $180 million over the same period.

Decades Music Theme Park will feature districts representing each decade of rock music - the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s to start with - with interactive thrill rides, live music and other attractions where park goers can step back in time to the sights and sounds of each era.
