PHOENIX, ARIZONA. MARCH 20, 2008-The music is growing louder as the Arizona State Senate voted today to approve Senate Bill 1450. SB1450 is the bill that will help create Decades Music Theme Park - Arizona's first major theme park.
The bill heads next to the House of Representatives.
SB1450 creates a "regional attraction district" which will help Decades get the financial backing necessary to build the Rock'n'Roll theme park. Decades will feature districts that represent the decades of rock music - 50's, 60's, 70's and the 80's for starters. The park will have rides and music-themed attractions for people of all ages.
The bill has been getting significant grassroots support, with some senators receiving hundreds of emails from people who want to see Decades built. A large portion of those emails are coming from Pinal County, where Decades Music Theme Park will be located - near the intersection of I-10 and I-8, putting it within a few hours' drive of millions of potential visitors.
A recent study by Elliot D. Pollack & Associates puts Decades' ten-year economic impact at approximately $270 million for the state of Arizona.
