SPECIAL ALERT

Getting in the spirit of having Decades Music Theme Park becoming a very close neighbor, Principal David Ascoli of Toltec Middle School orchestrated an essay contest where students were asked to answer the following question in a one-page essay:  "Why is Music Important to Me?"

We are thrilled to accommodate Principal Ascoli's request to post the winning essays:

Congratulations, Nicole, Brittany, and Madison!

"What a great idea for a Theme Park! Arizona is the PERFECT place for this. Let's launch this megatropolis between Phoenix and Tucson and give those in Casa Grande a lifestyle they never dreamed of. This is going to not only be fun, but what a great boom to our economy!"

Kalyn Wolf, Tucson, AZ

"Good luck with the park... I'll be there when it opens!"

Christopher Lunardon,Texas

"I think it's an amazing idea for a theme park and although there is a lot of press on the Hard Rock Park going up at Myrtle Beach, I think this park is much more what I had in mind for an awesome rock and roll amusement park. I would definitely travel here over the other! PLEASE BUILD IT!!!!!

Tony Perry, Chicago, IL

"I can't wait!"

Taylor, Tucson, AZ

"This project sounds great…"

Jon Shears, Phoenix, AZ

"This is an awesome opportunity for this part of the country. I have always envisioned park in this area (Tucson/Phx) that can be a major destination for the world! It is an all around winner!"

David Rodriguez, Tucson, AZ

"BUILD IT! Thank you—this is what Phoenix needs! Please let me know if I can help more."

Sean Horan, Phoenix, AZ

"We need this in Arizona. I am tired of having to go to Castles 'n' Coasters or California or Texas for my theme park experience."

Sergio Villavicencio, Phoenix, AZ

"I think this is great! Please "Don't Stop Believin'" and build this music tribute. Way better than HRP in SC."

Carlos Martinez, AZ

"Fantastic Idea!! What the Hard Rock park should have been! I hope this goes through for you guys!"

Jason Staie, Hagaman, NY

"Build this park and we WILL be coming to Arizona!!!"

Mark Jackson, Griffin, GA

"I am all for a theme park in Arizona and would like to be a part of it."

Jim Williams, Encinitas, CA

"This would bring people not only from the USA, but also from around the world... Go for it!"

Brian Cross, Casa Grande, AZ

"While I do not reside in Arizona at this time, I would LOVE to have the opportunity to apply for a position once you begin looking for management/support staff. An independent park of this magnitude is long-overdue. And I can not imagine a better location!"

Joseph Geier, Pittsburgh, PA

"I think Eloy is a perfect locataion. I felt that the Eloy area would have been a better strategic location for building the new Cardinal's Stadium than where they did in the West Valley. With easy access from both Phoenix & Tucson Metro Areas and both of their airports.... add the new Phoenix/Mesa Gateway Airport being less than an hour away also I think it's a no-brainer location! Good Luck!"

George Penney, AZ

"Thank goodness someone has identified this opportunity. The Eloy theme park is just a start. We have been wondering what the delay is in an investment like this. This is an area that is expected to see continual growth in a way that has never been witnessed in human history, over the next 20 to 50 years. This park will be very successful and I predict parks will follow quickly. Hurry it up and do it right. Being first gives you a good chance! The old Legend City that failed was a failure when it opened. It was never done right and never felt like a real theme park. Also, look at our old fair grounds. It is the same size and buildings from 30 to 40 years ago. There is not room there and who really wants too go? This city and state has been very slow to identify the possibilities in investing in something special. You build it right; they will come by the millions!"

Don Freeman, Phoenix, AZ

"Its about time Arizona has something going on around here.  This is going to be more fun than Florida.  We are so excited, can’t wait and the kids wanted to move from this state because there was nothing to do.  Now they want to stay, they can’t wait."   Thanks, Dan

Dan Niner, Arizona City, AZ

"My parents visit Arizona for a month every winter... You can welcome myself and the rest of the family as well should you build this attraction. Let's get it done!!!"

Shayne Beeler, Edmonton, Alberta

"First of all I have to say WOW! I am so impressed with the idea of music theme base theme park...being a new resident of Arizona from California I cannot wait for this park to open! I will definitely have to buy a season pass since I live only about 5 miles from where the park is supposed to be built! We really need something to do in this state. In California my family and I were at an amusement park at least 5 or 6 times a year and we will be so happy to have one this close to our home! Keep lobbying for this great project! I believe it will be wonderful for the state of Arizona!"

Danielle Lutz, Arizona City, AZ

"I was a resident of Orlando, FL for over 15 years and saw the great things a family theme park environment provided to the area.  I moved to the valley to get away from the humidity, hurricanes, and mosquitoes, and truly do miss the activity the theme park area provided."

Doug Justice, Queen Creek, AZ

"I am a Realtor in Arizona and also a land investor in Eloy and I think this project will bring a much needed revenue and opportunities not only to Eloy but to Arizona as a whole. My husband is a professional musician who has worked in the music business for over 25 years. We moved here from California and noticed immediately that Arizona has a lot of great musicians but do not have the platform to showcase their talents. So, we also totally support the concept of what this theme park represents in supporting the arts."

Marta Robbins, Chandler, AZ

"This is such an amazing opportunity for Arizona and the Valley of the Sun. This would bring tourism and create tons of jobs for us. BRING DECADES TO ARIZONA PLEASE!"

Stacey Jay Cavaliere, Phoenix, AZ

"I frequently visit the area of AZ where this park is planned.  Hope to hear that it is approved soon."

Lisa Miller, Lake Station, Indiana

"I am very supportive of the Decades Music Theme Park.  The designs I have seen are amazing.  I have been passing out shirts at my school to whoever wants one.  This park is going to be the best thing that ever happened to Arizona."

Landon Burnette, Awhatukee, AZ

"To anybody who will listen, I'd like to express my support for the progress and continuous pursuit of economic diversity in the state of Arizona . . . specifically, the proposed Decades theme park to be built in Eloy. Arizona's population growth has fueled this economy to the point where roughly one third of all money generated is tied to the construction industry. Arizona has fallen well short of its full potential and tourism is a big part of that potential. We must do all we can to support and encourage projects such as Decades because they are capable of broadening and enriching the entire landscape of Arizona industry. The city of Orlando wasn't even on the map before Disneyworld came to town. Please use your various channels of influence to support this project and provide it the legs it needs for consideration."

Brandon Cleveland, Queen Creek, AZ

"Could we end up with a park that rocks harder than Hard Rock? If even half of the conceptual art comes to be, I say yes. Everyday the park opens with a bang to "For those about to Rock". Then guests are treated to a Universal Studios type atmosphere with roving impersonators, live music and loads of thrill rides that seem to actually follow the theme of their section. Sure it all sounds awfully familiar to HRP in Myrtle Beach, but for some reason it just seems cooler. Maybe it’s that Hard Rock is a corporate entity building a theme park, and Decades seems like an Independent Label trying to get into the mix for the love of it. That was the appeal to Rock N Roll in the first place, the controversy, way it went against the trends at the time, and the way it just seemed like I didn’t care what people thought, as long as they could express themselves."

Erik Yates,Themeparkthrill.com

"Music fills so many people’s lives in so many various ways and having a park themed on different Decades will take each different person to a memorable time in their lives. Arizona is a great place to live; work and visit and we need something like this extraordinary park to increase those reasons. Most everything we do in life involves some kind of music; this is because music is the universal language of all people.   I hope and pray that this magnificent idea and boost for Arizona’s economy gets through all of the stages of required approval and becomes a reality for generations past, present and future to enjoy and remember for decades to come."

Jo Ellen W., Tempe, AZ

"If there is any justice in the world, this park will be built and give people the "real feeling" of music. I love what you are offering to all different demographics across the country."

Yoko Naruse, Nagoya, Japan

"Do people really see the impact that DECADES would bring?  Mr. West's vision is so much more than a theme park.  The passion and creativity that he brings to his dream will allow so many people to experience what music has brought to so many of us and will continue to do so. What an honor it would be to have this vision in Arizona, and what a gift it would be for mankind."

Connie B., Phoenix, AZ

"This park is overall amazing in its presentation, concept, and economic opportunities that it would bring to Arizona. This project would not only bring tourism dollars to the state government, but it would also transform Arizona to be an exciting destination for all ages young and old."

J.W., Phoenix, AZ

"Why is everyone talking about the heat in the summer? Hasn't anyone ever been to Walt Disney World between May and October? The heat is oppressive yet you endure it. I'd rather be in the shade when it's 110 in Phoenix than in the sun when it's 90 in Florida."

John Davis, Phoenix, AZ

"I live in Vallejo, California. I own a few properties in Pinal County.  I am very fond of that area ...it is very reasonable, many Californians have moved there. It has a great location, between Phoenix and Tuscon.  The Decades Project would be a great gift to Pinal County and the world."

Susan H., Vallejo, CA

"I think that its about time Arizona bring some more excitement into the state. It is such a great place to live and this would make it even better!! Good Luck. I support you."

C.J. Kunze, Mesa, AZ

"Just build it!  This will be the greatest place to go in the world once built."

Mark B., Phoenix, AZ

"It's about time we get a world class amusement park. Can't wait till it opens."

Melissa Glass, Phoenix, AZ

"I just wanted to say that I am extremely excited for this to happen! I've lived in Orange County my whole life and have worked for Disney for many years and am moving to Tucson in 3 weeks and am so happy for a place like this to be opening up in the future! When ever you all start to hire for jobs I would love to be a part of the team!"

Amanda Esparza, Tucson, AZ

" I want to commend you on your vision; many people thought Walt Disney was out of his mind to build a theme park in the agricultural area of Orange County. I have long believed central Arizona is a prime location for a venture such as this.  I myself have had the same dream of a project such as this. Your theme is brilliant, it lends to the creative lens of the past, present and future. Not to mention giving you such a large canvas in which to create, genre, bands, song themes, video, and video themes, this is a stroke of genius not just in the corporate, but the artistic since. Just imagine the room for growth."

James Lower, AZ

"It's about time for a theme park. Why should we go to California or somewhere else for a decent amusement park? Let's keep the money in Arizona. I will most definitely have season passes. And as for the heat, well, Magic Mountain in the summer is just as hot, but we still go."

Karen Fontana, Queen Creek, AZ

"This is going to be so AMAZING!!! Can't wait to be there! We live just a few miles away!"

Bev Hermann, Coolidge, AZ

"And of course, I am sure I'm not the only one who was innocently watching commercials on Super Bowl Sunday until one aired, depicting a Ford Focus rolling up to a pretty desolate intersection with no traffic sign, and a great big road sign directing, "ELOY 22 MILES, LOS ANGELES 423 MILES." There are theories galore that I have heard circulating through the community on how in the world the city of Eloy was chosen for a car commercial! One of the most interesting theories I've heard about the Eloy/LA link is the possibility of the Decades Theme Park sitting itself here. After all, California has its own rather large amusement park industry with Disneyland in Anaheim. Even car companies are ready to cater to the west coast tourist looking for some new entertainment strategies."

Lindsey Gemme, Eloy Enterprise

"Decades is going to change the face of Arizona -- not for decades, but for generations! It will have long-lasting tourism and economic development impacts that have yet to be seen in Arizona. Coupled with our already incredible tourist attractions and statewide growth, Decades will be a major component to a winning combination! I strongly encourage others to support this important addition to the Arizona landscape. -Besides, every one of us needs to ROCK now and then!"

Stacie Burnett Harrison, Ahwatukee, AZ

"Arizona is one of the great vacation destinations in the U.S.  One of the reasons millions of Americans and international tourist flock to our state is the diverse attractions & activities Arizona has to offer.  One noteable item absent from all of our state's attractions is a first class amusement park.  California, Texas, Ohio & Florida all have first class amusement parks that generate millions of dollars in income for those states.  The purposed Decades Music Theme Park sounds like a "no brainer".  Not only would it be a great attraction for tourism, but it would provide a great opportunity for Arizona families. How great would it be to have access to a great theme park without having to travel to Southern Cal.  Let's go for it!

Gregg Sandsbury, Phoenix, AZ

'I would just like to say one thing-Let's rock & Roll."

Jessie Rosel, Eloy City Councilman

"We need this theme park to compete with Souther California with tourism.  We get this for those who travel, as well as those kids that we have in the state.  Let's add some fun to boring Arizona.  Everybody join hands, light a candle and rock out."

Mike McGarran, Queen Creek, AZ

"I think the whole Rock N Roll theme park idea for Eloy is a marvelous idea, and would do wonders for the economy in Arizona.  Adults of all ages would be able to relate.  Here's to hoping it happens!"

Mary Degeorge, Tempe, AZ

"Wow! It's about time that Arizona had a world-renowned theme park to go with our spectacular Grand Canyon.  Can you imagine the impact that this would have on our Arizona economy & image?  I am not particularly a rock and roll fan, but I can see this being big.  I hope that the legislature will be cooperative in allowing them to form the taxing authority necessary for this to come to fruition."

Lorin Hatch, Gilbert, AZ

"I believe, as do my friends and colleagues, that the Decades Music Theme Park will be a boon for Arizona.  The benefits will be realized in jobs, tourism, national notoriety, and most importantly, as a father, the enhancement of the quality of life for Arizona residents and our families.  My family and friends have spent many thousands of dollars traveling out of state to visit quality family theme parks.  It’s time we keep our vacation money in Arizona and lure additional monies from tourists here and abroad."

Mike & Mia Harrison, Gilbert, AZ

"We own a house in AZ City, AZ and we are thrilled about having this park in Eloy!!"

Sally Mews, Wadsworth, IL

"Build this thing already, what a great idea for Arizona!!!"

Jared Wright, Coolidge, AZ

"Growing-up in southern Florida was great with WDW, BG, and EPCOT only a few hours away. How great it is going to be with DECADES less than an hour away. GO TEAM!!!"

Drew Power, Gilbert, AZ

"We are totally in support - we absolutely LOVE theme parks, plan to visit often, plus it's bound to increase our property value for house in Casa Grande, AZ."

Sandi Pratt, Casa Grande, AZ

"To envision such an incredibly creative project such as Decades takes true dedication and passion to music.  This park is going to take people to places that no other has before.  Arizona is lucky to have their state choosen for this magnificent theme park. My family and myself are already planning on purchasing season tickets."

Laurie C, Portland, OR

"Currently, I have to drive 6+ hours and pay to stay in a hotel in order to take my kids to the closest theme park when Arizona has such beautiful weather! Looking forward to this place opening!!!"

Elizabeth Mews, Queen Creek, AZ

"I am a native Arizonan, and I would love to see Decades become a full-fledged reality - a boon to Arizona's economy and a power player in the global theme park industry.  In fact, I just got back from yet another Spring Break trip to Disneyland, which is partially why I am so fired up about this - I can't stop thinking about the incredible potential for Decades."           "Let there be rock!" - AC/DC

Andy Meshel, Tucson, AZ

"I think that your idea for this park, and location are perfect!!! My uncle, Eugene Lemmon was a childhood friend of C.V. Woods. Woods helped Walt Disney with his ideas for Disneyland. C.V. Woods was in with Robert McColloch when he brought the London Bridge to Lake Havasu, Arizona. After Walt died in 1966, my uncle revamped Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. He was also a V. P. for Seaworld. Later he picked the site for Magic Mountain in Valencia,California. Nothing was really there at the time except green onion fields. I was 12 years old in 1969 in the back seat of my uncle's Monte Carlo when he said, "We're going to build an amusement park here, on this site". He was a visionary like you guys are."

Carl Carpenter, Gilbert, AZ

"As a REALTOR (R) in Arizona City, AZ I speak to a lot of people in and around the city of Eloy.  I have not spoke to one person that is opposed to this great project.  The Decades Team could not have picked a better area to build this great Music Theme Park.  The people that live and work in this area know what a wonderful opportunity this is for us, not to mention the state of Arizona.  We welcome this monumental project with open arms!!  Not only will we get the theme park, (which is exciting all by itself) but the area will get much needed jobs.  I can only see good things from this project and look forward to being one of the first visitors."

Tiffani Espinoza
REMAX A Bar Z Realty, Arizona City, AZ

"Bring it on, I have never heard of anything like it! Lets do this, lets rock n roll baby!"

Bill Moore, Mesa, AZ

"Thank you... thank you... thank you... we need a theme park in Arizona... did I mention... THANK YOU!!!"

Michael & Stacie Boyd, Vail, AZ

"I think this is the best idea ever for AZ. I am 30 yrs old & have lived here for 15 yrs. I have been wishing ever since I moved here for a theme park to be built in AZ. I now have a 5 yr old son & would love to take him there someday. U guys rock & I will tell everyone I know & would love to do what I can to show my support! Thank You & Good Luck!!!"

Jill Richer, Gilbert, AZ

"I Think it is a great idea and sounds so much fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Korene Jones, Casa Grande, AZ

"It's about time AZ has a theme park, I can't wait for Decades to be built. It will be nice to take small vacation without spending loads of money just to get there. Hurry and build it!!"

Vicki Gioia, Queen Creek, AZ

"Excellent idea... excellent location! So much closer than California which makes it more affordable for family vacations."

Terry Pierskalla, Gilbert, AZ

"Being a Theme Park Designer at the Walt Disney Company in Los Angeles, I have seen first hand how California and Florida communities have prospered due to the Parks Attraction. Arizona communities would benefit greatly due to the creation of jobs that a project of this magnitude would bring to Arizona. Residents and myself included are suffering with a job losses due to the housing industry slowdown here, We need more employment alternatives in this state. Arizona desperately needs more family and tourist driven entertainment venues to provide needed employment and in turn income into Arizona."

Chip Pace, Phoenix, AZ

"No more having to travel to California.  I can tell you I am most excited to have a park so close to my home, what a stress relief that will be to be able to go to a park and have some fun after a hard week, without having to plan and pay for a whole trip!

Charity Garrett, Arizona City, AZ

"We are very excited at the possibility of there being a theme park in our area.  We have five children ages 12 to 6 and driving to California for theme park adventures is not possible more than once a year if that. With a local theme park, our family would be able to spend a day or two together and have memorable experiences without the hassles of long drives, hotels and large expenses.Traveling outside of our home state is very expensive and the thought of it becomes overwhelming.  If "Decades" existed, families like ours would have somewhere fun and exciting to go.  It would be nice to spend money in our own state rather than always going to California or further."

Robert & Loren Ziegler, Ahwatukee, AZ

"Having originally moved to Arizona from California, I am quite accustomed to big cities and theme parks and quite towns with beaches.  To me that represented Arizona as well.  Tons of nightlife in the bigger cities such, as Phoenix, and quiet rural areas no one really went to, such as Casa Grande.  The growth in the area is astounding and the smaller areas are turning into regular cities themselves.  The only thing that everyone in Arizona still travels for is family vacations.  For those of us who live here and don't want to do the Grand Canyon trip yet again, there are no family theme parks we can vacation at, that is unless Decades is built.  With this one theme park Arizona can keep the thousands of dollars that I, and all the families I know, spend on their summer trips to Sea World, Disneyland, etc.  As a regular Arizona resident I am overjoyed to see that finally Arizona is branching out to the smaller areas and using them for a revenue-generating project such as Decades."

Jenifer Bretting, Mesa, AZ

" I think the Decades Theme Park is the best idea to hit the state of Arizona in, well, Decades, pun intended. I wish you great success with the project. My family and I support you and will go to the park several times a year. Let me know how I can help."

Ken Smith, Mesa,AZ

"What a great thing for the state of Arizona! It’s about time. Decades Theme Park is a well thought-out plan and will bring revenue, jobs and tourism to our great state. People are always going to gravitate towards things that evoke good memories. Music is the best example of something that evokes these memories. It is a way for people to have fun and feel like a kid again all the while, listening to the same music that they did back then. There is no way this could fail — just build it!"

Evelyn Cadman, Awhatukee, AZ

"This is an awesome idea and Arizona needs this one theme park desperately. Good luck!"

Karsten Williams, Scottsdale, AZ

"I think this would be awesome for something like this to come alive in Arizona. My grown kids are looking forward to this. They miss amusement parks like the ones in California."

Joanna Y., Arizona City, AZ

"I am so excited to see a park that mixes my love of music and theme parks!!!"

Ana Garcia, Tucson, AZ

"I think this development would be a much needed economic boost in the area. The number of jobs created from the theme park would benefit the area and increase tourism which we all know will increase everyones standard of living."

Dawn Phalen, AZ

"Good luck, you have my vote!"

Jeff Moennich, Chandler, AZ

"My family and I want you to know that we are writing you now to let you know that we support the Decades Rock N' Roll Theme Park being built in Eloy, Arizona. We might live in New York, but our 38 year old son Michael lives in Queen Creek, Arizona.  Plus, we now bought land in Eloy, Arizona because of the Decades Music Theme Park being built.  So this goes to show you that a project that big can affect people across the nation.  Never mind the impact it will have on the Eloy area itself.  So I am writting you now from far away with the hope that our letter to you will show our support for the new Decades Theme Park."

Michael & Elba Cotignola, Ridgewood, NY

"Rock on !! This is a great idea !! I'm glad everyone at Decades has a vision - and the vision is good !! We have needed something to bring visitors to Southern Arizona - and Decades is the ticket that will do just that. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you."

The Essenamcher Family, Tucson, Arizona

"This park will be great economic support to the area. I think the music themed park is a great idea and can't wait for it to get here!"

Kristina Rae, Casa Grande, AZ

" Not only will our family here and from out of state enjoy the benefits of a local theme park, but it will be a huge boost to our local and overall state economy. I strongly feel this too will rally our slumping real estate dilemma in this area and beyond. This could also bring a host of economy boosting businesses to an area in great need of an economic lift."

Christine McGinty, Casa Grande, AZ

"I can't wait! I'm so excited and will be there when it opens!"

Eva Bell, Tucson, AZ

"I love roller coasters!!!!  I will buy a season pass every year!"

Nicole Osborn, Chandler, AZ

"My sister told me about it yesterday, I AM VERY EXCITED!"

Angela B.,Queen Creek, AZ

"Let's go with Decades. Great for Pinal's economy!!!"

Rex Schenk, Casa Grande, AZ

"I wish you best regards and will always help support "Decades" theme park. I will be there opening day!"

Bryan Wallace, Casa Grande, AZ

"I am personally looking forward to making trips to the park with my family and fully plan to incorporate the history of music into my families days of entertainment."

Paul Dulaney, Tucson, AZ

"We are so looking forward to this Park being built here. We moved here from N.Y. and miss the Theme Parks terribly. We are currently retired, so hope this park will be built soon so we can still enjoy it."

Mary Egon Lange, Casa Grande, AZ

"Growing up with Rock and Roll was the best. To have a Theme park that reflects the great music of those times is going to be absolutely fantastic!!"

Richard Autry, Arizona City, AZ

"This will be a shot in the arm for the Eloy-Arizona area and provide jobs. I myself would be too old to enjoy the rides but my grandchildren will."

Jerry Martinez, Casa Grande, AZ

"This is exactly what Arizona needs for revenue."

Javier Villalpando, Laveen, AZ

"I am super excited about this park. Yearly, we travel away from Arizona to visit theme parks. Finally, one of our own!!!"

Jeannie Reardon, Glendale, AZ

"I grew up in Eloy and have waited many years to see Eloy succeed and prosper. Congratulations on an exciting project!"

Yolanda O'Grady, Aptos, CA

"This is an amazing concept. Everytime I've driven between Tucson and Phoenix, I've imagined a Theme park would be perfect between the two cities. Kudos to you and your team."

Dan DeLong, Tucson, AZ

"We are very excited Decades is coming to Eloy. We live in Tucson, and this area of the country has been lacking a theme park. It will be great for the economy, and a lot of fun for us! Thank you!"

Jessica Proctor, Tucson, AZ

"I am THRILLED! I can't believe we are finally going to be on the map. Who knew it would take being the 5th largest city in America to get it done, FINALLY! Plus, golf just isn't my thing. Thanks!! By the time this thing is built, my twins will be the perfect age for us to buy a season pass, and believe me, we will."

Angela Mills, Phoenix, AZ
